Some good points there! Thanks for pointing them out. In this fictional world I wrote Africa experiencing a terrible drought because it was something we can understand. In this way, and many others, this fictional world differs from the real.

Minor point: the famines in Africa and Asia have little if anything to do with climate or weather. In fact, the worst famine areas are in some of the most fertile regions known to Man. The famines have largely been caused by misrule— governments preventing nomadic tribes from following their traditional migratory paths; “revolutionaries” and tribal conflicts tearing up terrain, slaughtering the innocent caught in between; despots confiscating farmland from political factions out of favor, stripping them of their last crops and then letting them crumble to weeds and ruin…. if anything, your protagonist’s massive donations would do nothing but line the pockets of the tinpot tyrants ruling those regions.
